The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the appointment of new leaders in key executive roles, a move aimed at strengthening the Agency’s leadership and service delivery capacity across provinces. The announcement was officially made today, 1 July 2025, during the CEO’s engagement with Limpopo and North West REMANCO structures held in Johannesburg.
The appointments are as follows: Ms Zodwa Mvulane has been appointed as Executive Manager: Corporate Services, Ms Mildred Sono has been appointed as Acting Regional Executive Manager: SASSA North West, and Mr Tsundzuka Rikhotso has been appointed as Acting Regional Executive Manager: SASSA Limpopo.
SASSA CEO, Mr Themba Matlou, used the occasion to formally introduce the newly appointed executives to REMANCO members and emphasised their strategic roles in driving transformation, accountability, and operational excellence within the Agency. “Your appointment comes at a critical time, a time of renewal and change. As leaders, you are not just taking up new responsibilities; you are accepting the call to serve with integrity, to lead by example, and to empower those around you,” said Mr Matlou.
He further reminded the leadership collective of the importance of mentorship, teamwork, and creating opportunities for staff development. “You must not be selfish. You are a leader of the people. Expose your teams to opportunities. Empower and encourage your staff so they can perform at their best. A position doesn’t make a leader; a leader makes a position,” he added.
The CEO’s remarks set the tone for robust discussions during the meeting, which also covered organisational performance, human capital management, and future priorities.
These appointments form part of SASSA’s broader efforts to enhance its leadership pipeline and ensure the efficient delivery of social security services aligned with the goals of the Department of Social Development and the National Development Plan.
SASSA remains committed to “paying the right social grant, to the right person, at the right time and place. NJALO!”
