Matoporong, Reddersburg – The MEC for Social Development in the Free State, Mathabo Hlalele, is leading a community outreach and engagement programme at the Matoporong Community Hall in Reddersburg today as part of government’s ongoing commitment to bringing services closer to communities.

The initiative forms part of efforts to improve service delivery and ensure that residents, particularly those in remote and underserved communities, have easier access to essential government services and information without having to travel long distances.

The outreach programme provides a platform for direct interaction between government institutions and community members, enabling residents to access support services, seek information, raise concerns and receive guidance on programmes available to them. The initiative also seeks to promote social development, economic participation and community wellbeing through responsive and accessible service delivery.
Several government departments and entities are participating in the programme, including the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), the National Development Agency (NDA), the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Health.

Throughout the day, residents are engaging with officials from the various institutions to access services, obtain information and explore opportunities available through government programmes.
Community members have welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important opportunity to engage directly with government representatives and receive assistance on matters affecting their daily lives.

A key feature of the programme is MEC Hlalele’s engagement session with residents, during which community members will have an opportunity to raise concerns, share challenges and receive feedback on issues affecting the area.

The outreach programme reflects government’s commitment to strengthening citizen participation, improving access to services and ensuring that no community is left behind in the country’s development agenda.
