FORMER MINISTER PAYS TRIBUTE TO DR MABETOA
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Maria Mabetoa. Her departure is a significant loss to all of us who had the honor of knowing her and witnessing her remarkable contributions to our field.
Dr. Mabetoa was pivotal in advancing social services within the department. Her dedication was unmatched, and she consistently approached her work with a warm smile and a steadfast commitment to excellence. As a passionate social worker, she embodied the core principles of our profession, advocating tirelessly for the well-being of others and inspiring those around her with her integrity and compassion.
On a personal level, I learned so much from Dr. Mabetoa. During the COVID pandemic, we had the privilege of inviting her to Women’s Manyano, where she delivered an insightful presentation on mental health. Her ability to analyze complex issues and provide thoughtful solutions was truly impressive and left a lasting impact on everyone involved.
Her absence will be profoundly felt, but her legacy will continue to guide and inspire the work within the department. Her contributions to social services will remain a lasting beacon for us all, reminding us of the power of dedication and compassion.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Warm regards,
Bathabile Dhlamini
