  • The Sawubona Mhlali Service Delivery Brigades in Tsakane have demonstrated their commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals by donating a wheelchair to a 12-year-old child with a disability.
  • Following a household profiling in Ward 84, Team Leader Isaac Ncengwa identified the urgent need for the wheelchair, which was sourced through a donation from the Tsakane Old Age Home.
  • The child and his mother, who live in a shack and rely on a disability grant from SASSA, have also requested assistance in the form of clothing and food parcels.

The Sawubona Mhlali Service Delivery Brigades in Tsakane, Eastern Corridor, have once again shown their commitment to serving vulnerable people. This comes after they donated a wheelchair to a 12-year-old child with a disability following a household profiling in the area.

Speaking to the Weekly Bulletin last Friday, Team Leader Isaac Ncengwa said, “We were doing a household profiling at Ward 84 in Tsakane. One of the needs we encountered in one of the households in this community is that there was a child with a disability who was in urgent need of a wheelchair.”

“As a form of intervention, we received a donation from Tsakane Old Age Home. So, we are here today to deliver the wheelchair together with the Ward Councillor,” Ncengwa added. The child, whose identity cannot be disclosed for privacy reasons, lives with his mother in a shack. They survive on a disability grant from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). The family has further requested donations in the form of old clothes and food parcels.

Ward Councillor Phikisile Mthiyane stated that she would verify whether the family has been approved for an RDP house, as their case requires special attention.
