PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA DECLARES NATIONAL PERIOD OF MOURNING FOR LATE FORMER DEPUTY PRESIDENT DAVID MABUZA

•⁠ ⁠A State Funeral will be held for former Deputy President David Mabuza on 12 July in Mpumalanga.
•⁠ ⁠The President has declared a five-day mourning period.
•⁠ ⁠President Ramaphosa has described Mabuza as a leader and contributor to South Africa’s freedom.

The President has announced a five-day mourning period following the passing of former Deputy President David Dabede Mabuza.

A Category 2 State Funeral will be held on Saturday, 12 July 2025 in Mpumalanga. This Category is reserved for the Deputy President of the Republic, an Acting President and Former Deputy Presidents.

A National mourning period will be observed starting from Monday, 07 July until Saturday, 12 July, with all national flags to be flown at half-mast throughout the country.

President Ramaphosa has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Mabuza family, describing the former Deputy President as a “family member, activist, educator, intellectual and leader” whose legacy will be remembered.
