MEC for Social Development, Basetsana Sussana Dantjie, has congratulated 353 compliant non-profit organisations (NPOs) approved for funding for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The congratulatory message was delivered during a consultation session hosted by the MEC with funded NPOs, aimed at strengthening collaboration and aligning service delivery priorities.
The approval of funding at the start of the financial year marks a significant milestone for the Department. The process was completed in record time, demonstrating improved operational efficiency, strengthened internal systems, and a firm commitment to providing timely support to the sector.
These approvals follow the successful finalisation of service-level agreements (SLAs), which formalise partnerships and enhance accountability between government and NPOs in delivering essential social services to communities.
This achievement is anchored in the Re Thuse Re Go Thuse MEC flagship programme, a collaborative initiative led by the Department of Social Development and supported by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and the National Development Agency (NDA).
Through this programme, the Department continues to reaffirm its commitment to building a compliant, resilient, and sustainable NPO sector that plays a critical role in addressing social challenges and improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families across the province.
Among the funded organisations is Ntshalle le Bana Care Centre, based in Lekgalong village in Rustenburg, which provides 24-hour care to children with disabilities and employs 30 staff members. The centre has been allocated R1.4 million for the current financial year.
In Ngaka Modiri Molema District, Bopang Motho has received R1.4 million, while Tshireletsego, located in Boikhutso under the JB Marks Local Municipality in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, has been allocated R2.3 million. Both organisations provide nutritious meals to vulnerable communities through Community Nutrition Development Centres, with Tshireletsego also creating 43 job opportunities.
Additionally, Tshwaragano Disability Day Care Centre in Magogong, Greater Taung, has been allocated R250 000. The centre supports 21 beneficiaries aged between 18 and 35, providing essential daily care services.
These allocations underscore the Department’s ongoing investment in community-based organisations that deliver critical social services and contribute to local economic development.
