DSD APPOINTS A NEW SPOKESPERSON

- Sandy Godlwana will take on the reins of acting Chief Director: Communication for the Department of Social Development from 1 October 2025.
- She will be overseeing the department’s communication function, ensuring alignment of its strategic objectives with communication initiatives.
- Godlwana has 18 years of experience in government communication at both national and provincial levels, including in the office of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.
The Department of Social Development has appointed Sandy Godlwana as acting Chief Director: Communication, effective from 1 October 2025.
Godlwana has 18 years of experience in government communication, having worked in both provincial and national government departments, including the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.
She holds a degree in public relations management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a strategic management qualification from the University of the Free State Business School.
Before this acting appointment, Godlwana served as a senior manager at South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) KwaZulu-Natal, where she was responsible for both the communication and customer care units.
While at SASSA, the unit she led was recognised at the Service Excellence Awards Ceremony.
In her acting role, Godlwana will oversee the department’s communication function, ensuring alignment of its strategic objectives with communication initiatives.
