On Tuesday, 5 August 2025, SASSA CEO Mr Themba Matlou conducted a series of oversight and engagement activities in the North West province, beginning with a visit to retailers Shoprite and Boxer in Zeerust. The purpose of the visit was to monitor the August social grant payments and assess the implementation progress of the Beneficiary Biometric Enrolment Pilot.

During his engagements at the retail outlets, Mr Matlou interacted directly with grant beneficiaries, attentively listening to their experiences and addressing concerns regarding service delivery. His presence on the ground emphasised SASSA’s commitment to putting clients first and ensuring efficient and dignified service delivery during payment cycles.
Following the site visits, Mr Matlou proceeded to the Ramotshere Local Office in Zeeerust, where he continued to engage with clients and staff, offering support and ensuring that services were running smoothly.

Ending the day, the CEO led a Regional Executive Committee (REXCO) meeting at the Mahikeng Regional Office. The meeting focused on reviewing regional performance, strengthening community outreach through ICROP’s and improving service delivery across the board.

“If we look at the trends, the North West Region has done well,” Mr Matlou remarked, acknowledging progress while calling for sustained excellence.
He also emphasized the importance of the Queue Management System as a vital mechanism to reduce client waiting times and enhance operational efficiency.
The day’s activities reflect SASSA’s continued efforts to enhance beneficiary experience, build strong internal leadership, and reinforce a people-centred approach to social security delivery.
