The North West MEC for Social Development, Basetsana Sussana Dantjie, led a high impact service delivery programme at Robega in the Rustenburg Local Municipality on 18 September 2025.

Dubbed ‘Re thuse re go thuse’, the community outreach programme is MEC Dantjie’s flagship initiative intended to bring essential government services closer to residents, with the participation of various departments, including the Department of Home Affairs, National Treasury, the Department of Health, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), non-profit organisations, and the banking sector.

The day-long service delivery blitz provided residents with access to a wide range of services, including SASSA grans applications, birth registration and smart ID and bank card applications, health screenings and other social services.

Addressing a packed community hall, Dantjie hailed her outreach programme as a practical demonstration of the government’s commitment to provide indispensable services to the people at a brisker pace.

“This is our resolve, to bring integrated services to our people. We have government departments and their entities including SASSA, which is spearheading this outreach programme.

“Rural communities have benefited from this initiative and we intend to reach other vulnerable communities before the end of the financial year.”

Dantjie also extended a helping hand to 45 identified households facing hunger and undue hardships by handing over social relief of distress in the form of food parcels.

The outreach was warmly received by residents.

“Home Affairs helped me apply for a smart ID. I am so happy that authorities made it possible by bringing the variety of services to our village in one day,” said Robega resident Joyce Perele.

Another resident, Bonny Nkgweng, added: “I managed to apply for a Child Support Grant card. It saved me money because I did not have to travel to town to do the application.”

The integrated service delivery underscores government’s continued efforts to restore human dignity to those who are most vulnerable, particularly those in historically marginalised communities.
