The Minister of Social Development, Ms Dina Pule, led the Ministerial Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) at the Sethlare Traditional Office in Greenvalley, Acornhoek, Mpumalanga, today (16 October 2026.)

The programme brought essential government services to residents’ doorsteps, reducing the time and transport costs of travelling to different service points. Through collaboration between government departments and service providers, ICROP gave community members access to social support and other essential services in one place.

Among those who benefited was 23-year-old Ms Peace Spokane from Mapaleng, who applied for a Child Support Grant for the first time. Her application was approved at the outreach, an important step towards securing social assistance for her child.

Ms Grace Mogakane (40) from Newline came to collect her new Smart ID card, which replaces her old green identity document. She praised the service, noting how quickly the queue moved and how convenient it was to collect her ID close to home.
“The programme saved me the cost and inconvenience of travelling by taxi to collect my document,” said Ms Mogakane. She welcomed the initiative, describing it as a valuable service for residents who would otherwise struggle to reach government offices.

The experiences of Ms Spokane and Ms Mogakane show how bringing services directly to communities addresses residents’ practical needs, improving access to social assistance and essential documents while easing the burden of travel.

Through initiatives such as ICROP, the Department of Social Development and its government partners continue to bring services closer to communities, supporting individuals and families to access the assistance they need.
