Minister Lindiwe Zulu chose to undergo an eye test at the Cape Town Society for the Blind in Salt River, Cape Town, using the equipment bought by the National Development Agency (NDA), an entity of the department.

This was the Minister’s follow-up visit after she had visited the organisation with the Turkish Ambassador two weeks ago. Greeted by a professional optometrist, the Minister experienced firsthand how community members are assisted by the organisation. The NDA injected an amount of R558,748.05 to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for the low-vision clinic at the Cape Town Society for the Blind.

Minister Zulu expressed her elation at discovering that the community was gaining a new lease on life. With her script in hand, Minister Zulu said: “The testing went beyond my expectations. Not only did they test my eyes but they taught me about the health of my eyes!” The Cape Town Society for the Blind renders this service to the community at large.
