Bloemfontein, Free State — The community of Fichardt Park has been left reeling after a shocking revelation that a South African Police Service (SAPS) officer has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi. Kamogelo, a learner at Marti du Plessis School, was last seen on Thursday, 5 June 2025, when he was reportedly taken by two men dressed in police uniforms.
Following intense investigations, Sergeant Nzima Philemon Adoons, aged 42 and a serving member of SAPS, was identified as a suspect. Investigators linked a police vehicle used during the abduction to Adoons. He appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court on 9 June 2025, facing serious charges of kidnapping and extortion. He remains in custody as the court awaits bail information, with the case postponed to 13 June.
The incident has sparked outrage and fear, especially as Kamogelo’s whereabouts remain unknown. SAPS has confirmed that finding him is a priority and urges anyone with information to come forward. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has emphasized its commitment to justice, vowing to hold all individuals accountable, regardless of their rank or position.
As the community hopes for Kamogelo’s safe return, the case has raised troubling questions about trust in law enforcement and the safety of vulnerable individuals.
