Bulletin Reporter, Madali Chibambu, spoke with various sector representatives during the NPO’s Call for Proposals briefing session to gather their feedback on how they benefited from the briefing.
Kobus Garbers from Krugersdorp Council Care for the Aged, expressed the importance of such events. “It was necessary for the department to host this session because today, the panel helped me refine my business plan, which I was able to submit right away.”
Refilwe Qabang of Philani Community Development Programme, also Chairperson of the Children’s Sector, was impressed with the event. “The programme was refreshing, and it was great to have the department create time to provide us with valuable information and education.”
Dipuo Morake from Logwood Village was initially confused when the session started, but thingsbecame clearer when the discussion touched on her area of work. “We run both residential and community programmes. I had submitted a single business plan but later realized we needed to submit them separately.”
Charity Losper, representing Imizamo Yethu, emphasized the need for ongoing government-hosted sessions like this. “A lot was discussed today. Many people struggle with or don’t know how to complete certain documents. We deal with GBV cases daily, and this kind of support is crucial.”
Boyce Moatshe was pleased to receive an invitation but noted the need for earlier communication. “I was able to attend because I had many questions. In the future, the department should send invites earlier so people can better prepare. Since all the sectors are here, we can learn from each other and link our programmes.”
