SEBELEBELE DEFIES THE ODDS AT THE MIDVAAL MADMAC

• Jan Sebelebele, a devoted member of the Gauteng Department of Social Development Athletic Club from the Southern Corridor, defied illness to complete the 15-kilometre race at the Midvaal MADMAC initiative held near Meyerton.
• Despite battling flu and feeling unprepared, Sebelebele’s determination saw him cross the finish line, symbolising the power of resilience.
• The initiative, more than just a race, became a lively family day, with participants and supporters enjoying a festive atmosphere, complete with barbecues, drinks, and prizes, including a generous R86,500 prize pool.

Despite battling flu, Jan Sebelebele, a dedicated member of the Gauteng Department of Social Development Athletic Club from the Southern Corridor, powered through and completed the 15-kilometre race during the Midvaal MADMAC initiative held at Café du Cirque near Meyerton.

Sebelebele, who arrived feeling under the weather, treated the 15km run as a simple leg stretch, determined to finish. “I didn’t prepare for this race, and although some members pulled out at the last minute, I didn’t quit. Running is my passion. I was determined to finish,” he shared, smiling through a cough after receiving his well-earned medal.

The race, which was more than just a competition, transformed into a vibrant family day. Participants and supporters gathered under the sun, enjoying barbecues, drinks, and a festive atmosphere. With generous prizes and goodie bags sponsored by local businesses, the initiative 

had a prize pool of R86,500, making it a day of excitement for all who attended.
