SASSA REACHES OUT TO RURAL COMMUNITIES WITH SRD GRANT SUPPORT

• Residents raised urgent concerns about the R370 SRD grant, including application appeals and identity verification.
• SASSA assured the community that no one would be left behind in accessing social support.

In a continued effort to bring government services closer to the people, Ms Dorothy Nyatlo, SASSA’s Assistant Manager for Customer Care in Limpopo, led a focused engagement with residents at Mokwakwaila Community Hall. The session aimed to support community members facing challenges with their Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant applications.
“We are here to serve the community, ensuring that everyone has access to the help they need,” said Ms Nyatlo. She noted that the most common concerns included declined applications, unresolved appeals, updating mobile contact details, identity verification issues, and changes to banking information.
The outreach formed part of broader Child Protection Month build-up activities hosted by the Department of Social Development. It offered a platform for SASSA to directly assist rural residents and ensure that vulnerable families are not excluded from critical relief support.
Ms Nyatlo emphasised that the team was equipped to handle a high volume of queries and that community members would be assisted on-site. “We are ready and willing to help a large number of people,” she said. “No one will be left behind.”
The initiative is aligned with SASSA’s commitment to improving accessibility and strengthening frontline service delivery, especially in remote areas where support is needed most.
