PROMOTING SOCIAL HARMONY: DEPUTY PRESIDENT MASHATILE LEADS INTER-FAITH ENGAGEMENT IN WESTERN CAPE
- Deputy President Mashatile spearheads an engagement between the Government and Western Cape Inter-Faith Leaders.
- This initiative stems from a national decision to bolster collaboration and address societal challenges.
- With faith communities playing a pivotal role, the goal is to reaffirm commitments and tackle social issues head-on, supported by Minister Lindiwe Zulu and senior government officials.
Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile is set to take charge of an important engagement on Friday, May 3, 2024, aligning with his role in promoting social cohesion and nation-building initiatives. His mission: to lead discussions between the Government and Western Cape Inter-Faith Leaders.
This engagement springs from a pivotal decision made during the national Inter-Faith Dialogue in September 2023. The goal is clear: to foster stronger collaboration and coordination between the Government and Inter-Faith Leaders, aiming to tackle the developmental challenges that society faces head-on.
In South Africa, faith communities have long played a pivotal role in addressing the nation’s welfare and well-being. Recognising this, the Deputy President will reaffirm the commitment of both social partners to combat various social issues affecting not only the Western Cape Province but the entire country.
Standing alongside the Deputy President will be the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, along with other senior government officials, ready to lend their support to this crucial endeavour.
