MINISTER TOLASHE TO LAUNCH SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (DSD) MONTH IN GAUTENG PROVINCE

  • The Minister of Social Development, Ms Sisisi Tolashe, will officially launch Social Development Month in Gauteng Province on Friday, 27 September 2024.
  • The month-long initiative, themed “30 Years of Democracy, Partnership and Growth: Towards Reigniting the Role of the Family,” aims to support vulnerable communities across South Africa.
  • The launch will follow a meeting of the Minister and Members of the Executive Council (MINMEC) to discuss key challenges and opportunities in the social development sector.

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Sisisi Tolashe, will officially launch Social Development Month on Friday, 27 September 2024, from 14:00 to 15:00 at the Irene Country Lodge in Centurion, Gauteng Province. This year’s theme is “30 Years of Democracy, Partnership and Growth: Towards Reigniting the Role of the Family.”

Throughout the month-long programme, the Department will conduct targeted outreach initiatives focusing on vulnerable communities across South Africa. The launch will be preceded by a meeting of the Minister and Members of the Executive Council (MINMEC), the highest decision-making forum that convenes periodically to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the social development sector.

During the briefing, Minister Tolashe will outline key programmes aimed at addressing the cost of living crisis, the payment of social grants, the employment of social service professionals, and the funding of non-profit organisations.
